    Bera has strongest first fundraising quarter ever

    Dr. Ami Bera announced today that his campaign has brought in $387,000 so far for the 2016 election cycle and has more than $350,000 cash on hand. This was Bera's strongest first quarter of a cycle, with $308,000 raised. The vast majority of his support remains local; 87 percent of individual donations were from California and 80 percent were for $100 or less.

    WASHINGTON — In a stairway just off the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives, Rep. Ami Bera walks past a portrait nearly every day of the late Congressman Dalip Singh Saund, a Democrat from California elected in 1956 and the first Asian-American to serve on Capitol Hill.

    He was the first Indian-American, as well.

  • Reps. Ami Bera, Joe Crowley and Sen. Warner to Accompany Obama

    Rep. Ami Bera, co-chair of the House India Caucus, along with Sen. Mark Warner, co-chair of the Senate India Caucus, and Rep. Joe Crowley will join President Barack Obama on his three-day visit to India, beginning Jan. 25.

    At press time, the White House had not released the names of the Congressional delegation traveling with the president. Staffers for Rep. Ed Royce, R-Calif., chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and former chair of the House India Caucus, could not confirm whether the congressman was also joining the delegation to India.

  • BERA STATEMENT ON NOVEMBER 19TH VOTE UPDATE FOR 7TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT RACE

    The Sacramento County Registrar of Voters announced today that Dr. Ami Bera has a 1432 vote lead over his opponent, with virtually all ballots counted.

    "It's been my honor serving this community as a doctor for the last nineteen years, and I am grateful I will have the opportunity to continue serving as the representative for California's 7th Congressional District in Congress."

  • BERA LEADS IN 7TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT RACE

    The Sacramento County Registrar of Voters announced today that Dr. Ami Bera is leading the race for the 7th Congressional District, with a 697 vote lead over his opponent.

    "I am confident after the numbers released today," said Dr. Ami Bera. "We need to continue to let the Registrar count the remaining ballots, and we know once all votes are tallied, we will win this election."

    The vast majority of ballots remaining to be counted are provisional ballots. In both 2010 and 2012, those same types of ballots significantly favored Bera.

  • BERA TAKES THE LEAD IN 7TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT RACE

    The Sacramento County Registrar of Voters announced today that Dr. Ami Bera took the lead in the race for the 7th Congressional District, picking up 1241 votes over his opponent. He now leads by 711 votes.

    "On Election Day, I said that I was confident we'd win this election and I'm encouraged by the numbers released today," said Dr. Ami Bera. "We need to let the Registrar continue to count the remaining ballots, and we're excited to see what the final margin will be."
