  • BERA CAMPAIGN RELEASES FIRST AD HIGHLIGHTING PROMISE DR. BERA HAS KEPT TO PUT PEOPLE BEFORE POLITICS

The Bera for Congress campaign released its first ad of the 2014 general election today highlighting how Dr. Bera has kept his promise to put the people of Sacramento County before politics, including championing the No Budget No Pay law, returning his pay during the Republican shutdown, and returning his Congressional pension until Social Security and Medicare are secure.

  • KARL ROVE ATTEMPTS TO BAIL OUT FORMER CONGRESSMAN DOUG OSE

Right-wing mastermind Karl Rove's shadowy outside group has made Ami Bera his top congressional target. Politico reported today that Crossroads GPS is dumping nearly one million dollars into television ads over the next two weeks in California's 7th Congressional District race to prop up former Congressman Doug Ose, who at the most recent financial filing was left with just over $80,000 in usable money in his campaign coffers.

    The Bera campaign responded:

  • OSE AGREES TO DEBATE BERA

Former Congressman Doug Ose has agreed to participate in a debate with Dr. Ami Bera on October 8, 2014. Both are running for Congress in California's 7th Congressional District. The debate will be hosted by the Sacramento Bee, Capitol Public Radio, and KVIE Public Television.

Bera called on Ose to debate after California's June primary.

  • ON MEDICARE ANNIVERSARY, SENIORS CAN'T TRUST DOUG OSE'S RADICAL RECORD

Bankrolled by Paul Ryan, Ose would raise costs for seniors

On the 49th Anniversary of Medicare, California voters should beware of former Congressman Doug Ose’s radical record on Medicare. Not only would Ose reopen the prescription drug donut hole, making seniors pay more for their care, he even supports Washington Republicans' reckless plan to end the Medicare guarantee for our seniors, leaving them at the whim of private insurance companies and increasing their premiums by up to 50 percent.

  • BERA: OSE SHOULD RENOUNCE AKIN-LIKE EXTREME, ANTI-WOMEN POSITIONS

On Thursday, notoriously anti-women Congressman Todd Akin defended his 2012 "legitimate rape" comments, but it isn't just Akin with dangerous, radical views on women's health. Akin's colleague, former Congressman Doug Ose, voted with Akin for a radical measure that would define a fetus as a separate legal person, potentially undermining women's rights to birth control and abortion. Ose is running for Congress against Dr. Ami Bera in California's 7th Congressional district.

  • BERA HAS BEST QUARTER THIS CYCLE, RAISES MORE THAN $720,000

LEADS MULTIMILLIONAIRE OPPONENT BY NEARLY 1.8 MILLION

Dr. Ami Bera announced today that his campaign for Congress raised more than $720,000 in the second quarter of 2014, the campaign's best quarter so far this cycle. He has nearly $2 million cash on hand.

  • Viewpoint: Court’s ruling is bad policy and bad medicine

    July 1, 2014

The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in the Hobby Lobby case is a serious step backward for women’s health. It has the potential to not only impact many of the almost 3 million women in California, who saved an average of $269 last year on birth control, but sets a dangerous precedent where bosses are in control of their employees’ personal health decisions.
