    CARMICHAEL, CA - Dr. Ami Bera’s lead over Scott Jones in the race for California’s 7th Congressional District grew Wednesday to 4,802 votes following an update from the Sacramento County Registrar of Voters.

    Bera now leads his opponent Scott Jones by more than 2 percent, 119,448 votes to 114,646.

    ELK GROVE, CA - The Service Employees International Union Local 1,000, the largest public sector union in California, has endorsed Dr. Ami Bera for Congress. 

    SEIU, which represents more than 95,000 workers employed by the State of California, joins major unions including the Laborers’ International Union of North America and the California Teachers’ Association in supporting Bera for his record standing up for working families.

Republican Doug Ose had little trouble dispatching a pair of GOP rivals Tuesday, advancing to a fall showdown with Democratic Rep. Ami Bera for the right to represent suburban Sacramento County’s 7th Congressional District.

Ose, a wealthy land developer who served three terms in Congress, survived an onslaught of attacks from the left and right to easily outpoll Republicans Igor Birman and Elizabeth Emken. Bera, seeking a second term in the U.S. House of Representatives, cruised to a first-place finish.

Two California congressmen, Democratic Rep. Ami Bera and Republican Rep. Jeff Denham, said Thursday that they have formed a bipartisan caucus to advocate for the state's public universities and students.

Bera and Denham announced the California Public Higher Education Caucus on Thursday, consisting of 31 members of the state's congressional delegation.

Ami Bera Honors Pledge to Return Pension to Taxpayers

Rep. Ami Bera, D-Elk Grove, two years ago promised not to take a congressional pension until key entitlement programs were secured for years into the future.
