Elk Grove—The California Teachers Association has endorsed Dr. Ami Bera in
his bid to unseat Dan Lungren this November.
“California educators want Californians to know that Dr. Ami Bera is the
best choice to be the next Representative from the third Congressional
district,” said David A. Sanchez, president of the California Teachers
Association. “He will make students his top priority and fight to provide
California’s public education system the resources necessary to succeed.”
The California Teachers Association has endorsed Bera because of his
experience as an educator and support for an educational system that
provides creative, nurturing and safe environments for our youth, from early
education through high school and college.
“I am very happy to have the backing of the California Teachers
Association,” said Dr. Bera. “Support for educators is essential to building
a school system aimed at providing the best education possible for
California’s children and ensuring them a better future.”
The former Associate Dean of Admissions at UC Davis, Bera has gained much
support for his grassroots campaign. With a spot on the Democratic
Congressional Campaign Committee’s highly competitive Red to Blue program and enormous
fundraising success, the campaign is in great shape.
Bera, 45, is a lifelong Californian whose parents emigrated to the U.S. from
India over 50 years ago. He and his wife, Dr. Janine Bera, have been
residents of Elk Grove, CA for over 15 years and have a 12-year old
daughter, Sydra.
