Does Lungren stand with Karl Rove and the billionaires or California voters?
ELK GROVE, CA -- Today, the Sacramento Bee called on Dan Lungren to break his silence and take on the Karl Rove's shadowy front group, American Crossroads. And while the Big Oil billionaires rush to save their best investment, Lungren's continued silence raises a serious question that demands a clear answer: does Lungren stand with Karl Rove and the billionaire oil men, or California voters?
Dan Lungren has refused to denounce the misleading ads being aired by Karl Rove and his shadowy front group, American Crossroads. The organization, a slush fund for Big Oil billionaires, allows Lungren's corporate allies to avoid transparency while laundering their campaign contributions through Karl Rove.
"Dan Lungren is a career politician who has spent the last 23 years fighting for the corporate special interests who line his pockets," said Lucinda Guinn, Bera for Congress campaign manager. "Now he has a choice: denounce Karl Rove and the Big Oil billionaires, or admit he's in the pocket of corporate special interests who are bankrupting our economy and corrupting our government."
While Lungren remains silent, his record speaks for itself. Dan Lungren has taken $84,950 from oil and gas companies and voted to give Big Oil $2.6 billion in tax breaks. Lungren has also taken $15,000 from Citizens United, applauded the Supreme Court Citizens United decision which allowed corporations to spend unlimited money on campaign activities, and is even starring in an incendiary Citizens United film alongside Ann Coulter.
American Crossroads is a shadowy front group founded by Karl Rove, which is funded almost exclusively by four billionaires, including two Texas Big Oil executives. The organization launders money from nefarious mega-corporations, who are actively seeking the anonymity provided by new independent groups in the post-Citizens United World.
