RANCHO CORDOVA, CA – In a gathering with working families and small business leaders, candidate for California’s 3rd congressional district Dr. Ami Bera unveiled his economic plan to create jobs and stimulate economic recovery, while returning opportunity and prosperity to California.
Dr. Bera’s economic policy is based on five core principles:
• Empowering small businesses;
• Reinvesting in children and our workforce;
• Streamlining government and balancing the federal budget;
• Cleaning up Wall Street;
• Identifying regional opportunities for job creation.
“I’ll fight to make sure our tax dollars are getting right back here where they belong – fueling our economy, creating jobs, putting people back to work, and recreating a context of progress, prosperity and opportunity,” said Dr. Bera.
Dr. Bera was joined by Tom Meredith of IBEW Local 340 and small business leader Gordon Fowler of 3fold Communications. Both Mr. Meredith and Mr. Fowler endorsed Bera’s economic plan.
"Training with the apprenticeship program gave me the confidence I need to maintain a good-paying job," said Tom Meredith, graduate of IBEW Local 340’s apprenticeship program. "This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity that more American workers should be able to experience."
Gordon Fowler, local business leader, praised Bera’s plan for its commitment to the needs of the local business community.
“Ami Bera understands that small businesses are the engines that will power our economy back to prosperity,” said Gordon Fowler of 3fold Communications. “Today, we heard that Ami gets it – he knows that local companies need streamlined access to financing, and less bureaucratic red tape, so that we can start hiring more workers and growing our business.”

The former Associate Dean of Admissions at UC Davis, Bera has gained much support for his grassroots campaign. With a spot on the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s highly competitive Red to Blue program and enormous fundraising success, the campaign is in great shape.
Bera, 45, is a lifelong Californian whose parents emigrated to the U.S. from India over 50 years ago. He and his wife, Dr. Janine Bera, have been residents of Elk Grove, CA for over 15 years and have a 12-year old daughter, Sydra.
